Yesterday when we were out at the house I worked pretty hard on the sink. Although I had a chair to sit in, the bending over and such was pretty hard on the joints. So today I am sitting in the living room with a hot water bottle and a cup of tea… and the computer. Deciding on drawer pulls and finalizing the door hardware. Started last night, but was pretty tired!
So here is a picture of the sink front before I started on it (remember, it has been outside for 14 years!), showing the lovely patina that moss and fungus were able to develop.
And here it is when I was almost done — The last bit of staining remains, but will go when I have a chance to use some baking soda and plastic scrubby pads.
Two choices for the door handles, brushed nickel or oil-rubbed bronze…
We decided to go with nickel for the family spaces, bronze for the public ones.
Finally, the space for my bathtub. I tried it out to see if I can fit. I was ready for a bath after cleaning the sink. As you can see, I will just fit!
Anne, will love to come visit — August? Early August good for you? Or would you rather visit us? 😀 Mid-July to mid-August we will be home and in full swing with yard and house work.
We had a sink like that when I was a kid. I don’t know why, but I loved to clean it. I like the compromise on the door handles too. I think you have found just the right mix of old and new with a thought to the future in all these choices. When can you come design my house?
