Signs of life to come (will need to be transplanted — can’t have it growing on top of the wastewater drainfield…).

Was wondering what happened to the “missing” chestnuts this year. Found out this afternoon!

Will lift it tomorrow and put it in a nice pot for this growing season while we figure out the best place for a 40×40 foot tree!

Under a rosa rugosa, safe from prying eyes, the little chestnut sent out a lovely long root. In ten years it will have offspring of its own!
