infants learn
through seemingly random
disconnected acts
and experiences
over time
a life becomes more coherent
to the actors more than
the observers
growth happens
at odd moments and in
unplanned leaps
within a framework
the mind wakes
as light shines through
breaking glass ceilings
with a glance
our futures
are not yet set
among the stars or planted
in the earth
warriors march
in ragged formation
to assert the rights of the weak
against the hubris of the gods
