Once again, not officially affiliated with the Hero’s Journal/Planner, just a fan…
Well. Part 4 was intense.
Let’s make today’s quest less-so!
Mini-Quest Part 5: CELEBRATE the little things too!
This will be the last day of the quest, so we are going to reflect and celebrate (and maybe plan a little).
[Part 1] was all about feeding your spirit, the why and joy of being who you are. I hope you found some way to stop and honor your unique and wonderful self!
[Part 2] was a chance to identify items that are (or should be) on a near-term “To Do” list. It was an opportunity to rethink and re-order recurring tasks and one-time projects that are important. I hope you have been able to clear a few cobwebs!
In [Part 3] we took a moment to create a “thimble list” of short, local, inexpensive excursions and events that are easy to find and accomplish in a single day (or shorter). Unlike a bucket list of grand, often expensive, once-in-a-lifetime items that could be years away, your thimble list is designed to give you something to look forward to and make memories with soon and often. I hope you’ve been able to plan or even go on one excursion already!
[Part 4] was a very serious quest to identify areas of self-improvement that are linked to past regrets. This was a VERY challenging task, and one that might not have been right for you at this time. If you chose to shorten, skip, or abandon Part 4, that is a GOOD decision. Self-improvement comes with soul-searching, and as my own reflections showed that can include grief. I hope you took care of your heart if you started Part 4, and know that deep reflection will bear fruit eventually even if we don’t push ourselves – our brains will keep working to help us improve in the background.
TODAY is all about CELEBRATING PROGRESS, big or small. CELEBRATING LEARNING, deep or new. CELEBRATING YOU, in all your wonderfully complex, confusing, creative ways of being.
If you are in a headspace where you are already feeling uncomfortable about this day’s topic, please stop now and come back another time. This quest is what I needed in August 2026, and may not be right for you. If you want to stop at any time, either for a break or for good, please follow your heart in this. Our quests sometimes come together and we travel as companions for a while, and then we diverge. Please take care of yourself, and go with grace and my good will.
You might want list-making supplies again. I think I’ll grab a sheet of drawing paper (that I found while taking care of some “needs” on day 2!), and my colored pencils. My own brain usually thinks in vignettes and images, complex and multi-layered, and difficult to express in words – although I suppose you know I try!
Let’s start as we have on the other days: take a moment to rest and think. Walk, sit, and/or “do” in a way that allows you to focus more on thinking than navigating a space.
You are looking for a place and moment of calm where you can consider what is truly important AND achievable with the Time, Tools, Talent, and Treasure you have available Today. [“the five Ts”]

RELAX. Let your mind wander.
- What do you see that you haven’t noticed before? What do you hear? If you are in motion, what sensations do you have as you move through the space over textures, changes in slope, changes in direction? If you are seated, what points of contact do you have with surfaces, are you comfortable and stable or do you need to adjust your position occasionally?
- What is catching your attention? What isn’t catching your attention unless you focus? What is concerning you today? What is bringing you joy?
- Notice how your breath is moving in and out of your body. Do you feel heavy or light? Check in with your distant body parts and gradually move your attention toward your core. What feels tight? Unstable? Painful? What feels comfortable, relaxed, supported?
CONSIDER the ways you are complete, successful, secure in your being. How would you finish these sentences? You don’t have to write them down, just consider them.

- This week, I felt successful when…
- This week, I felt secure when…
- This week, I recognized I am making progress by…
- This week, I noticed I am learning (as I)…
- This week, I noticed I am unique when…

LIST/draw/tell/write to yourself a snippet that you can set aside and pull out when you need it. Include ways that you act, show, behave, do, and ARE worth celebrating.
Ashleigh Brilliant once wrote: I may not be perfect, but parts of me are brilliant.
In other words, this is not the time to focus on perceived or real “deficits.” It is a time to promote your best qualities!
This does not need to be a long document, an exhaustive list, or a complete accounting of your best qualities. You can add to it at any time. Take 5 minutes, more if it’s fun and you’re able! Usually the things you think of first are obvious and still worth writing down. There may be hidden qualities you miss at first and think of hours or days later.
Catch yourself being AWESOME! Notice when you SHOW UP in style! Accept the applause of the adoring multitudes – or, in my case, my adoring dog.
