I suppose I have a strange idea of fun… Looked forward to this all week, actually – woke up at 6, in Tacoma by 7:30, judged four flights in three rounds of individual events at the State Speech Tournament.

Doing good things…
I saw a flyer for Project Healing Waters while I was in a local shop today. Please give this organization a look — it is such a kind thing to do for people who have suffered in service to their nation. People with injuries from military action can struggle to regain a sense of peace […]
What would you do if…
you couldn’t access information about products, trends, people or news on the internet? you couldn’t direct others to interesting information you found on the internet? you were liable for legal penalties if you direct someone to a site that had pirated content — even if you didn’t know it was pirated? your work, created with […]
In Solidarity, Blacking out my Blog
Tom tells me there is a plug-in to do this. I will be offline for a day. Stop SOPA! Don’t inhibit the ability and right of people to collaborate and communicate! At the end of the day, I am not sure if my small protest made any difference. Not by itself. But perhaps, in conjunction […]
Occupy the New Year: A Challenge

Not the end of the world

Matriarch
My beloved Granny died this morning. She was a rock, an anchor, an inspiration for four generations. Though for several years she was not able to live independently, she nevertheless maintained her positive attitude and good humor throughout. For those of you who didn’t know her, Granny was more than just the family matriarch after […]
Year-End Wrap-Up
Well. It was a LONG school year for me. And now it is over. I am apparently continuing in the program, and have a student teaching assignment lined up for next year! I will meet with my mentor teacher next week. The end result of the actual teaching in the school I was doing my […]
Passages: Sam Hinton
Sam Hinton. The world will miss you. Though I never had the chance to meet Sam personally, I grew up looking through a book he had written and illustrated on the sea life of the coast of California. I think we all grew up knowing some of his songs. As an adult, I rediscovered him […]
